The Hub and Spoke Business Model
Keyclicks is a UK based creative design agency that works on a ‘hub and spoke’ business model. Such working arrangements are sometimes called ‘creative hubs’, ‘creative networks’, ‘creative clusters’ or perhaps ‘creative collaborations’.
The Idea
The idea behind our business model is simple.
The central ‘hub’ is made up of a small team of employed business professionals which includes, project managers and administrators whilst the creative design and development aspect of our business (the ‘spokes’) is delivered through independent and talented creative professionals who are experts in their own disciplines of design, web development, marketing or video production.

This week, I attended one of the many business networking groups that we as Keyclicks, are member’s of.
This one runs its events in Leeds on a lunchtime and is generally well attended. The format is an à la carte one with groups of 8-10 people sat at a table. Each person on the table takes it in turn to deliver their ‘elevator speech‘ to the other people sat at the same table. It’s quite a relaxed format with an open networking session being held upon arrival over orange juice or wine.
At this month’s event I’d say about 60 people attended resulting in new contacts being made and the opportunity to catch-up with some existing ones.
