Emails & BT Broadband

Are you a BT Broadband user and having problems sending emails? Then you’re not alone…

If you use BT as your ISP you may experience problems sending emails from accounts which use domain names that are hosted independently to BT (such as the ones that we host for you and that are associated with your Keyclicks email accounts).

To resolve this issue you will need ‘Open Mail Relay’ setting up on your BT account. To do this you will need to contact BT’s Technical Support people and request to have “mail relay” set up on your domain(s).

This basically means that BT will add your non-BT hosted domain names on to their “allowed list”. That is to say, BT will then permit you to send emails using your domains through the BT network.

Sounds complicated we know, but it isn’t really.

You can read more about ‘Open Mail Relay’ on BT’s website here. Under the heading Related articles click on the link: How can I set up mail relay?
